Why undertake Anatomy for Embodied Yoga Teacher training (YTT)?

The goal of this course is to kindle a profound passion for understanding the intricacies of the human body and empower you to integrate this knowledge seamlessly into your classes. This integration aims to elevate your teachings, offering a deeper understanding of working with diverse bodies and constructing classes with anatomical coherence.

In this evolving landscape of yoga, the emphasis is shifting towards recognizing that poses lack inherent alignment—alignment is individualized to each person. Embracing the uniqueness of every body, the role of a yoga teacher becomes intricate yet potentially more fascinating and rewarding. The course adopts a creative approach to anatomy, examining established yoga concepts through the lens of contemporary research and knowledge.

Throughout the training, fundamental questions such as “what defines strength and flexibility” and “what creates a balance between these qualities” will be revisited. The teaching approach emphasises functional anatomy, exploring body reading, bandhas, and gravity as pathways to fostering healthy, balanced, and functional movement.

Meet Melanie

We are delighted to welcome Melanie Cooper, a wonderfully experienced guest teacher who travels far and wide sharing her expert skills. Melanie has over two decades teaching experience in a range of styles; initially starting from an Ashtanga background, but now favouring the ‘softer’ Yin and Yoga Nidra elements alongside other specialisms such as anatomy.

When Melanie isn’t delivering level 2 YTTC (300 hours) and other teacher trainings, you can find her sharing her skills on beautiful retreats abroad, or spending time at the beach in cooler climbs in Cornwall!
