More about Beginners' Yoga

Your first visit: questions

I have never done yoga. Which class should I choose?
Start with Beginners' Yoga on a Wednesday evening, or the 5-week Begin course. Hatha, gentle and restorative classes are also good first classes. Your teacher will offer options for every posture.
Do I need to be flexible or fit?
No. Yoga isn't about flexibility or how a posture looks. We bring the postures to your body, with props and alternatives in every class.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, and a bottle of water. Blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets are provided. Bring your own mat or hire one for £2. For hot yoga, bring a towel to lay over your mat.
When should I arrive?
Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early so we can show you round. For safety, latecomers can't join once class has started.
Where do I park?
Our customer car park is diagonally opposite, next to the Orange Tree pub. It costs £1 per hour, paid at the front desk on arrival. Alternatively, Ford Street car park (DE1 1EE) is a 2 minute walk around the other side of our building.
Can I join from home?
Yes. Most classes are livestreamed, and every pass works in the studio, online or both.

“I used to do yoga at a gym, but I'm not sure I could go back after taking yoga classes at The Breathing Space. It's a cosy, relaxing space in the city centre, where you can practise yoga at any level. The teachers are really knowledgeable and interesting.”
Joanna F., Google review
“Such an inclusive, friendly and genuine yoga studio with so many authentic, fantastic teachers. The studio itself is clean and welcoming, and the range of classes and workshops allows anyone to access them, whatever walk of life they are from.”
