Time to carve out some much-needed time for reconnection and restoration. This retreat is designed to enable to you to leave feeling refreshed and rejuventated, so in the words of Uma Dinsmore Tuli you can truly say ‘welcome home to yourself’.
Location
Nestled on the pristine Polem Beach in South Goa, Bamboo Yoga Retreat is a true haven for relaxation and rejuvenation. Recognized as one of the Guardian’s Best Yoga Retreats in 2018, ranked #1 among 27 specialty lodgings on TripAdvisor, and boasting an impressive 9.2 score on Booking.com, Bamboo Yoga Retreat is a destination that guests return to time and time again.
This idyllic retreat offers open-air practice spaces, cosy beachside bungalows, and a beachfront restaurant. Here, you can immerse yourself in breathtaking ocean views and the soothing sound of waves, creating the perfect environment to recharge and reconnect.
The Yoga
We’ll practice in the cool of the morning and in the golden dusk of the afternoon, in our very own beautiful open-air practice space, overlooking the sea.
The Morning Practice (90 minutes to 2 hours) Mixed Level Hatha practice, including meditation and pranayama. Practiced during the cooler part of the day.
Afternoon Practice (90 minutes to 2 hours) Restorative, nurturing practices to include yin yoga, pranayama, chanting, yoga nidra and meditation. The practice will end before dusk, to allow time to watch the sun go down and maybe even take a sunset dip.
Beach Bungalows
The bungalows at Bamboo Yoga sympathetically blend into the natural surroundings, built with local organic materials. They are clean, simple, comfortable, private and eco-friendly. Each bungalow has single or double beds, fresh linen, mosquito netting, hanging space for clothes and belongings and en suite bathrooms. Cleverly designed to make use of the natural ventilation from the cooling breeze, but also equipped with ceiling fans and a/c for those hotter days.
There are two types of bungalow; cabana and hut. Both Cabanas and Huts are available on the Seafront or on the Beach.
Brand-new elegantly designed glass-fronted Cabanas have beautiful natural views overlooking the beach or surrounding countryside, and feature large well furnished bedrooms with roomy open-roofed ensuite bathrooms, A/C and ceiling fans, and spacious comfortable balconies with hammocks and seating to relax on.
Huts located on the beach boast large comfortable bedrooms, modern ensuite bathrooms, A/C and ceiling fans, and balconies with hammocks.
Each bungalow (hut or cabana) boasts sea views to the front or side veranda, or views across the paddy fields or local countryside.
Take a bungalow on your own, or share with a friend. If wanting to share, come with a friend you know, or come alone and we can pair you with someone of the same sex. Non-yoga-practicing partners are welcome but the charge is the same.
Activities and Excursions
We all lead busy lives and this retreat is about creating breathing space, so we are scheduling opportunities for you to feed your soul: swim, read, sunbathe, take long naps, book in a treatment or take trips out to shop or explore. On one of the days, we will leave a free afternoon to allow an excursion opportunity; take a day trip to the Old Town, an extended boat trip or explore the local area.
FAQs
Who is this retreat for?
We warmly welcome everyone with whom following statements resonate:
You want to deepen your practice in the homeland of Yoga.
You want to spend time with good people, in a beautiful setting.
You want to immerse yourself in Yoga but still have time to enjoy being in Goa.
You long to travel to India, but love the idea of being with a group of like-minded individuals, with which to share the experience.
Can beginners come?
Absolutely! Beginners to Yoga are always an absolute joy to welcome to the community.
All the practices on the retreat will be mixed level. The hatha practices in the morning will be more physically demanding, as it is the cooler part of the day, but there will always be variations and variety so all can participate according to their preference of physical demand. Getting there
Travelling to and from Goa
There are some direct flights to Goa via London and Manchester. TUI and Air India operate these charters to Goa. These are more expensive but significantly reduce travel time. If opting to change, many flights change at Delhi or Mumbai. Do book flights early to get the best deals you can.
Flight search engine: https://www.skyscanner.net
Polem is approx 1 – 1.5 hours by taxi from the airport. Pickup (approx 65€ per car return) is advisable. Nearer the time, we will be able to take your flight details and arrange this through Bamboo on your behalf. It may be that several of you will be able to share the expense, if coming on the same flight.
The retreat starts at 4pm Saturday 2nd November. The retreat ends at 12pm on Saturday 9th November.
You may wish to opt to spend more time in India either side (or both). Should you wish to stay at Bamboo for additional nights, this can be done some by contacting them directly. There are many accommodation options in the area however.
We do not offer partial refunds for days/nights of the retreat not attended.
