Chair Yoga Classes

Chair Yoga is a  rich and spacious practice for everybody. Inclusive, wholesome, ‘together’ practice for us all, in which we have the use of a chair and other supportive props. During each session we learn to bring each posture and practice to the body, rather than the body to the posture. We take time to find stability to grow in strength, confidence and discover freedom and joy in the movements of the body. Pregnancy and injury friendly – great for people who are establishing a yoga practice, as well as those who have a strong, long-standing practice and would like permission to settle into more subtle spaces. Sessions include: asana (posture), pranayama (breath work), relaxation, and simple meditation.

The benefits of our Chair Yoga classes

Chair Yoga can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or physical ability. It is a gentle form of yoga that incorporates the use of a chair as a prop to support and enhance the practice. This makes it an excellent choice for people who may have difficulty getting up and down from the floor, or who may need extra support due to injury, chronic pain, or mobility issues.

One of the key benefits of Chair Yoga is that it can help to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and overall mobility. This is because the use of the chair allows for a wider range of movements that may not be possible otherwise. For example, seated twists, forward folds, and side bends can help to stretch and lengthen the spine, while standing poses such as the Warrior series can build strength in the legs and core.

In addition to physical benefits, Chair Yoga can also have a positive impact on mental and emotional wellbeing. It can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and promote a sense of relaxation and calm. This is because the practice of Chair Yoga involves a focus on the breath and the present moment, which can help to quiet the mind and promote a sense of mindfulness.

Overall, Chair Yoga is a versatile and inclusive practice that can benefit people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you are looking to improve your physical health, reduce stress and anxiety, or simply connect with others in a supportive and welcoming environment, Chair Yoga can provide a valuable tool for achieving your goals.
